Celebrating Sportsmanship & Community at Cornerstone’s Sports Day

At Cornerstone, we believe that fostering physical wellness and sportsmanship helps students grow into well-rounded individuals. To bring this belief to life, we hosted an exciting Sports Day for our Full Day K–5 students and their families on May 2nd at the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium in Menlo Park.

In preparation for the event, students were divided into seven teams, each led by a fifth-grade team captain. These young leaders rallied their teammates to create unique team cheers and colorful posters, which were proudly showcased during the festivities.

The day was packed with fun, spirited competition, featuring games like: Potato sack races, Hula dome dodgeball, Hungry hippos, Jump rope and shuttlecock challenges.

Families joined in on the action, competing in a parents vs. coaches basketball game and an energetic tug-of-war match. Students also teamed up with their parents for basketball and badminton tournaments.

Good sportsmanship took center stage as attendees voted for teams that best demonstrated fairness, respect, and team spirit. The event concluded with a special awards ceremony, honoring those who exemplified these values.

None of this would have been possible without the dedicated support of our parent volunteers! We are deeply grateful for their commitment to fostering a vibrant, active community for our students.

We cherish these moments that strengthen our school community and look forward to more events that inspire unity, active living, and positive values.
