4th Graders' "Eye-Opening" Experience

Guess which class had quite the eye-opening experience? The fourth graders in the Koi Class went to the Palo Alto Junior Museum on Wednesday, October 18, to learn about the major parts of the mammalian eye by working in groups to dissect and examine real cow eyes. During the ordeal, some students were initially squeamish about seeing the real cow eyes preserved in solution. However, they gradually conquered their fears and masterfully dissected the eyes and examined the different parts. Not only did the students further their knowledge about mammalian eyes, but they also learned an important lesson about how to conquer their fears when faced with a challenge. This eye-opening experience (literally and figuratively) was indeed a successful learning opportunity all around!
