On Saturday, April 13th, 40 Cornerstone students participated in the 48th Chinese Speech Competition organized by the Chinese Teachers Association of California. Over 300 students from 34 schools competed in this year's event. The students' ages ranged from first graders to college graduates. A total of 27 students from Cornerstone School programs received awards.

The Cornerstone children bravely showcased their talents and shared their speeches. Their speeches covered a wide range of topics, including personal experiences, cultural insights, and current events. The students were judged on their pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and overall presentation. Our full-day first-grade Squirrel Class students even performed a special program for the conference after the competition.

We want to commend each participating student for their dedication throughout the preparation and practice process, their ability to continuously improve their speaking skills, and their deep understanding of the various emotions they experienced during and after the competition. Our students learned that success isn’t about the place they get at the end of a competition. Success is challenging oneself. Success is pushing oneself, every day, to go further and reach greater heights. Success is working hard to improve, learning that one has the dedication to set forth on a challenge and complete it. This experience was truly invaluable, and we hope each and every student who participated understands how incredible they are.

We are grateful to the parents and teachers for their tireless efforts in creating such a rare learning opportunity for the children! Once again, we applaud the students' courage in challenging themselves and congratulate each of them on what they’ve learned from participating in this event!
