Celebrating the Joy of Learning with PreK Students

At Cornerstone, we lead students of all ages to celebrate the joy of learning through lively performances and presentations to showcase their learning with their friends and family. These performances present wonderful opportunities for our students to build their confidence through public speaking and, in turn, enhance their language skills. Our youngest students in the Piglet and Panda Classes, who are all three and four years old, had their turn to show off what they learned so far this school year with their very first performances.

The Piglet Class, our youngest students, had their performance on Tuesday, October 29. It was a festive event that was enjoyed by all involved. The students sang three different Chinese songs about different topics they’ve been learning about, including fruits and vegetables and their five senses, and shared their knowledge about superheroes. The students talked about what powers superheroes have, what they do to help others, and then they each shared about how they are superheroes too and what their proudest accomplishments this year so far. Students shared things such as “I am a superhero. I try new things and not be afraid,” and “I am a superhero. I help my classmates and teachers.” At the end, families were invited to join the students in singing together.

The learning celebrations continued the next day with the Panda Class’s performance on Wednesday, October 30. The Panda Class shared what they had been learning in class with their families by performing two songs - one about the Earth and another about how plants grow. This was followed by an explanation from the students about how corn grows. The students then got to be teachers and led their families in playing a game called “Find a Friend” where family members had to follow the students’ movements.

Student performances are always the highlight for families and students alike, allowing everybody to celebrate the culmination of the students’ efforts and dedication to learning. We can’t wait to follow our young students through their learning journey!
