This past Tuesday, June 3, we had the distinct honor of hosting Dr. Myron Scholes for an engaging lunch meeting with the fifth grade students in the Flying Dragon Class and their families. A Nobel Laureate and renowned economist, Dr. Scholes shared profound insights that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room.
Dr. Scholes shared his life story with the students and encouraged them to remain grounded in their identity—emphasizing the importance of knowing who you are and staying true to that throughout life. He spoke about the value of building a strong foundation, both intellectually and physically, while nurturing creativity as a lifelong asset.
Dr. Scholes also challenged students to define success on their own terms, reminding them that personal fulfillment doesn't come from external benchmarks but from within.
With a touch of humor and wisdom, he offered a memorable reflection: “Early birds may get the worm, but they might also be frozen if it’s too early.” It was a thoughtful lesson on timing, risk-taking, setting priorities, and finding balance.
This meaningful conversation provided our students with much to reflect on as they prepare for the journeys ahead. We are grateful to Dr. Scholes for his time, candor, and inspiration.
