The second graders in our Grizzly Bear Class went to visit the Los Altos History Museum and Library as part of their social science theme about people who made a difference last Wednesday, November 2. At the history museum, the docent introduced the students to famous Los Altos locals who made a difference in their community as well as famous figures who made an impact in U.S. history.
The students then went to visit the library. At the library, the librarian hosted a story time with our students to further extend in-classroom learning about famous historical figures. Our students also signed up for their own library cards and borrowed books. What a great opportunity to instill a love of reading in our students as well as teach them about a valuable community resource!
