Third grade is a significant milestone in a young learner’s educational journey, marking their shift from early elementary years to becoming more confident and capable students ready to engage with increasingly complex ideas. One of the many memorable experiences for the Hawk Class this year was their three-day overnight field trip to Pigeon Point—a first-time adventure away from home for many.
During their time at Pigeon Point, students not only explored fascinating aspects of the natural world but also built essential life skills such as independence, self-discipline, and resilience. They observed the local ecosystem, waded through tide pools, and embarked on nature hikes to study plants and wildlife. Adding to the experience, students took full responsibility for preparing their own meals—an accomplishment that reinforced their teamwork and self-sufficiency.
It was truly remarkable to witness their growth over the course of the trip. The students who departed for Pigeon Point returned to Cornerstone transformed, carrying with them newfound confidence and unforgettable memories.
