Cornerstone Outreach Project - “Winter Tales and Warm Trails”

Writer's picture: Cornerstone SchoolCornerstone School

To promote the joy of reading to their local community, the fourth and fifth graders in our Full Day Program created some festive winter-themed decorations to display at the Palo Alto Children’s Library. Our students aimed to invoke the feeling of joy and recreate the sense of awe one finds from devouring a quality book by meticulously crafting a winter wonderland backdrop to allow patrons of the library to snuggle up with a good book during their visits to the library. Other interactive displays our students crafted included a handmade snowman cutout to take photos with and cotton “snowballs” to have “snowball fights” in the library. It was wonderful to witness our students taking the initiative to show their empathy for others, working together to create something that would bring happiness to their local community during the holiday season.
