Kindergarteners' Trip to Deer Hollow Farm

Despite the threat of rain earlier in the week, the clouds parted on Wednesday, November 15, for the kindergarteners in the Hippo Class to visit Deer Hollow Farm. That day, the students enjoyed a nice hike, singing songs and spreading joy along the way while enjoying the weather and nature around them. At the farm, the students became acquainted with some of the animals residing there, including chickens, sheep, goats, and ducks. Some fun facts that the students learned about the farm animals were that pigs covered themselves in mud to cool off and that hens lay less eggs during winter. They also saw first-hand how dairy products from cows, sheeps, and goats were created and how the animals on the farm ate food and drank water. The students particularly enjoyed being able to interact and pet the animals. This trip was an edifying experience for our young scholars and they’re already looking forward to their next outing!
