Student Council is designed to foster leadership skills and encourage students to become active and engaged members of their community. Through their participation in the Student Council, our students gain valuable experience in voicing their ideas, collaborating with others, and making a positive difference. One of the events our students have organized and hosted for the past few years is their bake sale at Rinconada Park, where they fundraise money for the Student Council to use in the future. The Student Council continued this tradition on Tuesday, October 15, utilizing the knowledge and experience that they gained in the past couple years to execute this event.
During the process of planning for this event, the older students who had experience with the bake sale in the past imparted their knowledge on the younger students. The older students guided their younger peers into taking various factors into consideration during the planning process, including whether or not to have two separate groups again like they had done the previous year, which baked goods to make, how to package and price their baked goods to appeal to their customer base, and which strategies would be most effective in drawing customers to their sale. Each student was eager to contribute to the bake sale and showcase their creativity and ingenuity by creating their own ingredient lists for their baked goods and packaging their baked goods to appear aesthetically pleasing to customers. During the actual event, every student worked closely together to help each other set up, organize the money they made in a money box, and try creative methods of marketing their baked goods. It was a joyful experience to see the students enthusiastically supporting each other through this event. Some students even came up with the idea to share samples of their baked goods to reach a wider audience! In the end, the Student Council earned over $400, which they will use to support their future activities. High praise to our students for their efforts and to our families who came out and supported our students in their endeavors!
